About Us

We are Seattle-based physicians and researchers who work on Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC), a rare and aggressive skin cancer.

We have assembled this information to answer frequently asked questions about Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC). Since MCC is an uncommon malignancy, few patients are familiar with the disease and few doctors are familiar with its rapidly evolving management. Easy access to understandable, current information is often difficult to obtain. We created an MCC interest group to connect hundreds of researchers and clinicians around the world to improve management of this disease. On this website that we have maintained since 2004, we combine summaries of the best available literature and our experience caring for over 1,000 patients with MCC at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This information is designed to facilitate key therapeutic decisions that need to be made within weeks to months of initial diagnosis of MCC. You can help support these efforts by participating in research, joining a support group, or making a donation. Please discuss any questions that you may have with your doctor and an MCC specialist.
