Research Improves Lives: A Call to Share Your MCC Story

April 28, 2025

UW Medicine has launched the Research Improves Lives campaign, celebrating the vital role that our research community plays in advancing discovery, improving patient care, creating jobs, and fueling economic growth. The campaign also raises awareness about the serious consequences that can occur if research funding declines or stops, as is currently happening to many research efforts in the US.

At the MC3 Institute and the Nghiem Lab, we know how important research is—especially for people affected by rare cancers like Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC). Many of our most meaningful breakthroughs have come directly from dedicated research efforts—and from the stories shared by patients, families, and caregivers.

If research has made a difference in your life or in the life of someone you care about, we invite you to share your own story. Your voice can help demonstrate why continued investment in research matters.

Thank you for being part of the MCC community and for supporting the power of research.

Warmly,
Krista Lachance (Director of People & Program), on behalf of the MC3 Institute
